CAD Structural Modeling

GMPT, October 2024

To facilitate waveguide device modeling, Macondo provides six commonly used CAD geometric structures. These structures can be used to create 3D geometries by extruding 2D XY plane shapes along the Z direction. The structures include:

  • Rectangle
  • Triangle
  • Polygon
  • Circle
  • Ring
  • Waveguide

Basic Geometric Structures (Planar Extrusion Modeling):

There are three commonly used 3D geometries in micro-nano optics, which include:

  • Sphere
  • Pyramid
  • Curved Surface and Cube

Basic Geometric Structures (Direct Modeling):

The combination of the above basic structures can meet the design requirements of basic optoelectronic devices and micro-nano optical devices.

More complex devices can be created through:

  • Rapid generation using Python to call modeling structures
  • Generation by importing GDSII mask layout files
  • *Generation by importing other CAD geometric model files (STEP, SAT, STL, IGES)
